The UK’s experts in secure online invoice submission have launched an initiative to optimise electronic billing for insured patients. Healthcode, which clears more than 200,000 e-bills each month from hospital providers, has appointed Sam Hobbs to lead its new Hospital Billing Programme.
Healthcode already clears approximately 90% of UK’s insured hospital bills, helping to save time and cost within the private sector and the programme focuses on billing efficiency to help both hospitals and insurers to optimise their performance. Sam’s new role will see her work closely with hospital providers at group and local level to resolve any difficulties they have with the e-billing process, from better staff training to system changes which will enable them to meet industry billing standards. One of her key objectives is to further improve the proportion of submitted e-bills which are complete, correct and can be validated first time. In addition, Sam will report back to Healthcode’s development team to help them enhance the company’s e-billing service.
Sam Hobbs joined Healthcode’s customer services team in 2011 and has extensive experience of the private medical sector having previously worked for Bupa, in their member services department. Reflecting on her mission, she commented: “As Healthcode users already recognise, e-billing is one of the most effective ways to reduce administration costs and boost cash flow. However, simple errors and omissions can cause bills to be rejected and lead to frustrating delays. In many cases these difficulties can be resolved very quickly so I’m delighted to have this chance to work with so many great hospitals to help them ensure e-billing works smoothly in practice and maximise the efficiency benefits.”
