UPDATE: Healthcode’s team of four intrepid swimmers successfully completed their 5km swimathon for Sport Relief on Sunday 20 March.

While the number of charity swimmers taking to the pool made the water quite choppy, Healthcode’s swimmers – Nicola Kingsmill, Ravinder Brar, Simone Collins and Fridah Sanga – rose to the challenge, covering a total of 200 lengths in 2hours 50 minutes.

The swimathon and Healthcode’s other fundraising efforts have raised more than £900 for Sport Relief, helping worthy causes in the UK and some of the world’s poorest countries.

A four-strong team of aquatic enthusiasts from Surrey-based healthcare IT specialists, Healthcode, will make a splash in aid of a great cause on Sunday 20 March 2016.

At the stroke of 2pm, Nicola Kingsmill, Ravinder Brar, Simone Collins and Fridah Sanga will take to the 25m pool at Spelthorne Leisure Centre in Staines to swim a combined 5kilometres for Sport Relief, the biennial charity event which raised over £71million in 2014.

Each member of the team will cover 50 lengths and have been psyching themselves up for the challenge. “I was first involved with the Sport Relief swimathon in 2014,” says team captain, Fridah. “It was such a fulfilling experience that I was more than happy to do it again this year. I’m very excited that we are raising funds and awareness for such a good cause. Go Team Healthcode!”

Nicola is expected to set a blistering pace for her colleagues as she used to swim for Middlesex as a teenager and has been training three times a week. She has set herself a target of competing the distance in 30minutes. However, all four swimmers are confident of success and proud to be making a difference for people in the UK and some of the world’s poorest communities.

Team Healthcode hope that colleagues, friends and family will come and support them in their efforts or sponsor them at https://my.sportrelief.com/sponsor/healthcode/

Those who prefer to stay on dry land can also support the collective fundraising effort at Healthcode’s Sport Relief Day on Friday 18 March. Staff will be wearing red for the occasion and ensuring the swimmers build up their energy with a cake sale at the company’s offices at Waterman’s Business Park, Staines.
